MATAMORAS - A portion of Interstate 84 will be formally dedicated to fallen state troopers during a ceremony next week.
The dedication ceremony for the Fallen Trooper Memorial Highway stretch of Interstate 84 running from Lackawanna County to the New York border will be held at the Matamoras Welcome Center off Exit 53 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, according to a press release.
Pennsylvania State Troopers Association President Bruce A. Edwards, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan and state Sen. Lisa Baker, R-20, Lehman Twp., who sponsored legislation to dedicate the stretch of the highway to fallen troopers, will speak before unveiling a sign and monument that will include inscriptions of the names of all troopers killed in the line of duty, according to the release.
