District Judge Solomon risks public's safety

The (Harrisburg) Patriot-News District Judge Solomon risks public's safety By Letters to the Editor December 17, 2009 District Judge Joseph Solomon should take a long look in the mirror and decide whether he is committed to the public safety of the people of Dauphin County. On the night of Dec. 5, Solomon set bail at only $5,000 for an individual named Tony Lee Robinson. Here is how Robinson ended up in front of Solomon for arraignment: Robinson was arrested by a state police corporal on suspicion of driving under the influence. While in the patrol car, Robinson became loud, belligerent and threatened the corporal and his family. Robinson then urinated all over the back of the patrol car. Upon arrival at the police department, Robinson threatened to kill the corporal and two other troopers. Robinson then capped his evening by head-butting the corporal. Anyone who so willingly threatens and then assaults a law enforcement officer is an extreme threat to the public. If an individual such as this is brazen enough to attack an officer of the law, he may think nothing of hurting others. For some reason, Solomon failed to recognize this, and in doing so, risks the safety of his fellow citizens. Setting this individual's bail at $5,000 is like giving him a "get out of jail free" card.
