PSTA: ‘TROOPER FIRST CLASS’ DESIGNATION TO BE UNVEILED JULY 1
Designation to recognize Troopers with 12 or more years of experience

Harrisburg – Pennsylvania State Troopers Association (PSTA) President Bruce A. Edwards today announced that Troopers with 12 or more years of service will receive the designation of “Trooper First Class” beginning on July 1. The PSTA successfully pushed for the new classification during its most recent contract negotiations.

“The PSTA fought hard for this new designation because it recognizes dedicated Troopers who often pass up promotions to remain in jobs that are critically important to keeping Pennsylvania safe,” Edwards said. “Their personal sacrifice is further evidence of how much rank-and-file Troopers care about their jobs and their mission. Trooper First Class is an appropriate way to honor their commitment to being Pennsylvania State Police Troopers.”

Each member designated Trooper First Class will wear a single chevron on each arm beneath the State Police patch, similar to a corporal (two chevrons) and sergeant (three chevrons).

(Media Note: The new uniform is available for inspection at the PSTA Headquarters, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg.)
